Pinot Noir from Burgundy, France
Jean-Marc Millot is a Burgundy wine producer located in Nuits-Saint-Georges. It makes Pinot Noir from a number of parcels within Nuits-Saint-Georges, but the majority of its vines are in Vosne-Romanée and Flagey-Échezeaux. Millot has a number of premier and grand cru vineyards among its holdings.
The domaine's namesake, Jean-Marc Millon, began producing wine in the 1980s in his family's 6 hectare (15 acre) vineyard that had been planted by his grandparents after World War II, as well as in a small, 1ha (2.5 acre) plot that his wife had inherited from her family. The domaine didn't begin estate bottling under the Jean-Marc Millot label until 1992.
Millot's initial catalogue of wines was small, limited to a Côte de Nuits Villages from vineyards in Vosne-Romanée and Vougeot and within the Comblanchien commune. In 1997, Millot added the Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots premier cru to his holdings, as well as the Échezeaux, Grands Échezeaux and Clos de Vougeot grand cru parcels. Today, these vineyards make Jean-Marc Millot's most highly regarded wines.
The total land that Jean-Marc Millot has under vine is still fairly small, and all the work in the vineyards is done by hand, following organic farming practices.
