Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

About the Winery

Bryant Family Vineyard is a wine estate on Pritchard Hill overlooking Lake Hennessey in Napa Valley. Its wines are highly sought-after and Bryant is considered to be one of California's cult wineries, producing small quantities of expensive wine since its first vintage in 1992.

The team produces three wines; the Bryant Family Estate is a 100-percent Cabernet Sauvignon sourced completely from the property. Bettina is a companion wine, a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot from three Abreu-farmed vineyards in the St Helena and Howell Mountain AVAs.

Reviews and Accolades

97-100 Points/Jeb Dunnuck
Not yet bottled, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) is inky hued and boasts some serious structure, with classic 2021 tannins and mid-palate depth. Blackcurrant, scorched earth, graphite, and liquid violet notes define the aromatics, and its dense and compact on the palate, with beautiful length. This is another incredibly majestic Cabernet Sauvignon from this estate that's going to rank with the cr me de la cr me of the vintage once bottled, yet as with the vast majority of top 2021s, it's going to demand bottle age.

97-99 Points/Wine Advocate
Tasted as the final blend, which was scheduled to be bottled in December 2023, Bryant's 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon combines mint, sage, crushed stone, pencil shavings, cherries and cassis on the nose. Is it perhaps just a bit more complex than the Bettina? It's certainly just as powerful and concentrated, being full-bodied and richly tannic but ripe, silky and almost never-ending on the finish. Personal preference will play heavily into which of the two wines you enjoy more, but both are packed with pleasure.

94-97 Points/Vinous
Tasted from a base blend, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the most embryonic, young 2021s I have tasted. At this stage, this is dense and packed to the core, with notable fruit intensity and equally potent tannins. It's an exciting wine, but also incredibly youthful. I very much admire the energy here.
