Notes from the Winemaker

Sourced from 30+ year‑old Chardonnay vines across seven to eight plots in Chassagne, some adjacent to premier cru sites. Organically farmed, grapes are hand‑harvested and undergo a long, slow press, then spontaneously fermented in 350 L barrels. Aged 12 months in barrel (with ~25 % new oak) before spending another 6 months on lees in stainless steel.

91-93 Points/Vinous
The 2024 Chassagne-Montrachet Village is a blend of seven lieux-dits with one-third from Morgeots, all touching Grand Crus. It has a touch of oyster shell on the nose that combines deftly with the citrus fruit. Fine delineation and focus. The palate is well balanced with a killer line of acidity, impressive depth and intensity, lightly spiced with a powerful and long finish that is unequivocally Premier Cru in standard. You will find few white Village Crus better than this.

Note: from several different lieux-dits but mostly from Carrières and Pot Bois. Reduction dominates the nose today. Happily the palate impression of the slightly bigger-bodied flavors is also super-fresh with fine intensity that deliver first-rate length on the balanced and complex finale that is dry but not really austere. This is an excellent Chassagne villages and worth checking out.Burghound Outstanding Top Value!

Plenty of mildew here, alas! Picked before Puligny for once. Pale lemon yellow. Quite a complex nose, some floral attributes here, light on its feet with the correct acidity, some flesh here but maybe the livelier aspect is down to the first vintage of Pot Bois, replanted after 161/49 issues. Drink from 2028-2030.
